The first production vehicle was handed over to Bundeswehr medical troops in mid-2011. Crew training for the type is carried out by the Sanitatslehrregiment, the Bundeswehr medical service's training unit based at the Gaubodenkaserne in Feldkirchen, Lower Bavaria, formed in 2003. Trained sgSanKfz crews deployed the vehicle to Afghanistan for ISAF operations from late 2012.</span></li> </ul>
