It keeps the 120 mm smoothbore gun and composite armor of earlier M1A2 models while adding Next Evolutionary Armor, an improved underbody mine and IED protection package with redesigned crew seating, and a more powerful electrical system to run onboard electronics. Other upgrades include the Improved Forward-Looking Infrared sight, an ammunition data link for programmable rounds, and the Low-Profile Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station. Soldiers of the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, were the first to receive the M1A2C in July 2020.</span></li> </ul>
