Operated by the United States Air Force through the Air National Guard, the Lockheed F-16 Fighting Falcon has long been one of the most successful multirole combat aircraft in history. Although the 185th ARW is primarily known for its air refueling mission with KC-135 aircraft, the F-16A associated with its heritage reflects earlier fighter lineage within Air National Guard units before mission transitions.

By 2022, aircraft 85-1565 served in a commemorative and heritage capacity, representing the long evolution of Air National Guard fighter operations in Iowa. The “Golden Bat Viper” name and distinctive markings symbolize both the unit’s identity and the F-16’s enduring reputation as a high-performance, agile combat aircraft. The F-16 platform itself is widely based across the United States and allied air forces, often operating from dispersed locations and integrating seamlessly into joint training exercises and homeland defense missions.

While this specific airframe’s later service is associated with training and heritage display roles rather than active deployment, the F-16 family has seen extensive combat use in major conflicts. These include Operation Desert Storm, where it performed strike and air defense missions, as well as Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, where it provided precision strike, close air support, and reconnaissance. The “Viper” legacy continues to symbolize adaptability, survivability, and precision across decades of modern aerial warfare.

This 1:72 scale model is a standout collectible honoring both heritage and combat excellence. Featuring striking golden-themed markings and finely detailed Fighting Falcon design, it captures the speed and agility of one of the world’s most iconic fighter aircraft. Perfect for display or as part of a modern military aviation collection, this replica celebrates the enduring legacy of the Viper, add it to your collection today for a bold and distinctive centerpiece.
