The machined aluminum drums incorporate Power Ribs™, known for their excellent line grip, smooth performance, and reduced rope wear, reminiscent of Andersen Stainless Steel Winches®.</p><p><strong>Power Ribs™ Benefits</strong></p><p>The unique gripping capability of Power Ribs™ minimizes the number of wraps needed around the drum, lessening the load on the self-tailer and optimizing line management while preventing riding turns. The non-abrasive drum surface prolongs the life of running rigging and offers seamless easing under high loads.</p><p><strong>No Tools Needed</strong></p><p>Users can fully disassemble and reassemble the winch without tools. To remove the drum, simply pull back the spring-loaded release latch and make a slight anti-clockwise turn to lift the self-tailing arm. The drum can then be taken off the winch's center stem.</p><p>During reassembly, an audible click confirms the self-tailing arm’s secure position within the bayonet notches on the center stem, which is lockable at eight different rotational stops spaced 45 degrees apart.</p><p>Orbit Winches™ models 30QT and 40QT feature the patented QuickTrim™ self-tailer, designed to enhance efficiency.</p><p><strong>QuickTrim™ Feature</strong></p><p>QuickTrim™ allows sailors to easily ease the line without having to remove the winch handle or disengage the line from the self-tailer. A simple anti-clockwise rotation of the self-tailing cover allows it to function like a sheave, facilitating confident grip and control while easing.</p><p>When finished, letting the top cover spring back locks the self-tailer for standard use.</p>
